Free Leadership development programme for social leaders in Wales. Social Leaders Cymru 2024 is Open.
Social Leaders Cymru leadership programme has been designed to support voluntary, community and social enterprise leaders at all stages in their leadership journey.
Building on the pilot project in Wales during 2021/22 this new Social Leaders Cymru programme, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and delivered in partnership with Clore Social Leadership and WCVA will:
- develop leaders across Wales who will inspire the next generation and enable the third sector to thrive
- engage with leaders from diverse backgrounds
- encourage community cohesion and collaboration.
Delivered by Clore Social Leadership, working alongside Programme Directors based in Wales, the Community and National Leader programmes create time, permission and space to enhance wellbeing and develop strong peer networks.
They are designed to expand your existing skills as a leader to become more confident, empowered and resilient. Social Leaders Cymru has been created to support leaders to make a positive difference in their communities.

NEWPORT: The application window is closed to apply for Community Leader Cymru (Newport) programme. The in-person sessions will be held in Newport, South Wales. The programme will run from June – December 2024.
WREXHAM: The application window is open to apply for the Community Leader Cymru (Wrexham) programme. The in-person sessions will be held in Wrexham, North Wales. The programme will run from September – March 2025. Apply here.

Experienced Leader Cymru is for leaders in Wales with six plus years leadership experience in the social sector. Applications open Autumn 2024. The programme will run January – April 2025. Register your interest!
We will be co-producing a leadership declaration through a series of engagement activities with:
- alumni from the pilot project,
- participants from the upcoming leadership programmes,
- third sector organisations
- other interested stakeholders
The declaration will set out:
- what the social sector views as good leadership in the context of its work in Wales;
- how we can commit to strengthening leadership over the long term;
- the approach social leaders should take to finding solutions;
- the value of leadership development;
- the benefits of good social leadership.

Our Funders and Partners
Thanks to National Lottery players and funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, Cwmpas is delivering Social Leaders Cymru in partnership with Clore Social Leadership and WCVA.
The project is supported by a Project Advisory Group whose members reflect the diversity and reach of the sector – indicative of the impact we want the programmes to achieve. The Advisory group’s role is to help shape the programme to make it relevant and impactful for the social sector in Wales.
I found the sessions incredibly useful, so much useful information and practice shared, it has had a huge impact on my work already and I'm sure will continue to do so as time goes on. Also, the co-facilitation style is extremely supportive and empowering and created a really relaxed, while engaged, atmosphere in which to learn and grow.
