Robert Owen Project (Co-operatives and Social Businesses in CWRE)

Robert Owen Project (Co-operatives and Social Businesses in CWRE)

Cwmpas is working on an exciting education project for Welsh Government education platform Hwb. We will develop resources about co-operatives and social businesses to inspire awareness amongst young people. The project will link to the CWRE (careers and work related experience) strand of the new curriculum

Teachers and students are invited to help us develop these materials. We will be holding online sessions to hear ideas and feedback and there will be opportunities for students to engage in developing materials and to connect with local social businesses.

Co-operatives and Social Businesses are a vital part of the Welsh economy but sometimes little known solution to the challenges that will face future generations.  The Robert Owen Schools Project was announced by Education Minister Jeremey Miles, and is named after the Welsh founder of the Co-operative movement.

The development will take place over the autumn and winter to be finished by March 2024.  The area of learning is likely to be within humanities but with links to other areas and we intend the resources to be for Key Stage 2 and 3 and bilingual.

If you would like to be part of this development in any way, please join us. We are grateful to fellow co-operative development agencies who have already volunteered to share knowledge.

Further feedback and testing will take place over the winter with the resources due to be ready by March 2024.
