Breakfast briefing: Mapping the social business sector in Wales findings

Results of the latest census mapping the social business sector in Wales.

In this briefing, we reveal the results of the 2022 census mapping the social business sector in Wales. Commissioned by Social Business Wales, the purpose of this research is to understand the size and scale of the sector, and to conduct a health check of the sector (including identifying some of the challenges and opportunities faced). The 2022 mapping is also an opportunity to understand how the sector has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We contrast the findings to those of 2018 and 2020 and look at upcoming opportunities for the sector.

Themes include:

Composition of the sector, start-ups, growth, sources of income, trading performance, business capabilities, barriers to growth, support to overcome barriers, barriers to accessing finance, social impact, and action on net zero.

Presented by the team from Social Business Wales, the briefing will also include guest speakers Alun Jones (WCVA) and Eleanor Shaw (People Speak Up).
