Communities Creating Homes Summer Roadshow

17 July 2024

This summer, the Communities Creating Homes team has been touring communities across Wales, sharing inspiring stories of community-led housing. Over the course of June, we met with groups, community members and housing activists in Holyhead, Newtown, Carmarthen, and Pontypridd.

High street regeneration, empty houses, chapels, and affordable homes for young people were all top of the agenda. And despite the very real challenges they face, a tide of change across Wales is undeniable, communities from every corner of the country are coming together to take action and drive forward ideas for change in their local areas.

On Wednesday July 31st we’ll be making our next stop in Wrexham. Right now in the city, people buying a house can expect it to cost over 5.35 their annual earnings and those renting on the private market will, on average, be paying a staggering £688 month (ONS, 2024). Community-led housing can offer an affordable, exciting alternative!

Over the course of an afternoon (from 2.30 – 4.30pm), Cwmpas will bring together community leaders, housing advocates, and residents, for an informative event to explore how Wrexham can  grow its own community-driven housing projects. Together, we can create homes and communities that reflect a fairer, greener vision for the future. Book your free space here!
