Cwmpas Bluesky Social channels: launching 24 February

Like many responsible organisations, we’ve been looking at the best way to move away from the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
The increase in toxic rhetoric and hate speech on X is directly opposed to our commitment to inclusivity, both within Cwmpas and in our activities with the communities we serve.
We have now created Cwmpas, Digital Communities Wales, Social Business Wales, Communities Creating Homes, and Digital Inclusion Alliance Wales platforms on Bluesky Social, and we’ll be launching our new channels during the week commencing 24 February.
With Bluesky Social being a registered Public Benefit Organisation which prioritises ethical considerations, user well-being and the promotion of healthy, equitable online communication, it makes sense for us to have a strong presence on a platform which aligns with our values.
At Cwmpas, we plan to continue to post on X for the moment, as many of our established followers have not yet made the transition to Bluesky Social. We have information to tell our stakeholders which they need to hear. We need to be able to reach our followers on the channels they use.
We plan to monitor our own channels in the coming months, as well as monitoring the growth of Bluesky Social, before making a decision when to stop posting on X.
During this transition period, we’ll be encouraging our followers to migrate with us to Bluesky Social. We hope to see you there.
